Residence card application through MOS in 2026: what changed

From 27 April 2026, residence permit applications in Poland moved mainly to an electronic process. Applications for temporary residence, permanent residence and EU long-term resident status are submitted through MOS - Moduł Obsługi Spraw. This is an important change for foreigners planning to legalise their stay in Poland.

MOS allows applicants to prepare the application online, enter personal details, choose the basis of stay and attach documents. However, an electronic form does not mean that the application can be completed casually. The office still assesses the data, the legal basis and the set of supporting documents.

Before submitting, it is worth checking which type of application fits your situation, whether the data matches your passport, contract, employer documents or family documents, and whether the attached files are complete and readable. Income, insurance, housing and other supporting documents may also be important.

Common mistakes include choosing the wrong application type, attaching incomplete files, using outdated documents, uploading unreadable scans and failing to explain changes in the applicant's situation.
