Contract and salary threshold

An EU Blue Card requires a contract or binding offer of highly qualified employment for at least 6 months. The position and employment terms must match across all documents.

In 2026 the official threshold is above PLN 13,355.34 gross per month (PLN 160,264.08 per year). The threshold changes, so it must be checked again before filing.

Qualifications and regulated professions

High qualifications are proven with a higher education diploma or, where permitted, documented professional experience. The evidence must connect the qualification with the proposed work.

For a regulated profession, you must also prove the right to practise it in Poland. A foreign diploma alone may not be enough.

Who is the EU Blue Card for?

It is for specialists who will perform highly qualified work in Poland and meet the contract, salary and qualification requirements.

What is the minimum contract duration?

The contract or binding job offer must cover at least 6 months.

What salary is required in 2026?

According to MOS, the 2026 threshold is PLN 160,264.08 gross per year, or more than PLN 13,355.34 per month. It should be checked again before filing.

What counts as high qualifications?

Can experience replace a degree?

Who completes the employer attachment?

The employer or an authorised representative prepares and signs the employment data and electronic Załącznik nr 1. They must match the contract and application.

What are the public fees?

The permit stamp duty is PLN 440 and the residence card issuance fee is PLN 100. Payment details and amounts are checked before payment.

Is an EU Blue Card always better than a regular work permit?

No. It has additional requirements and benefits, but a regular work-based permit may be more suitable when the salary or qualification threshold is not met.

Can I change employers with an EU Blue Card?

Yes, but the procedure depends on when the card was issued, the employment period and which conditions change. Check whether a notification or another action is required before the change.

Can I move an EU Blue Card from another EU country?

Mobility rules exist for Blue Cards issued by another participating EU country, but Polish conditions must be met and documents filed within the required time.

Can I travel while the case is pending?

A pending case or passport stamp does not replace a visa or residence card for re-entry to Poland. Check your entry documents before travelling.

What if my profession is regulated?

You must additionally prove the right to practise the profession in Poland. A foreign diploma without recognition or authorisation may not be sufficient.
